“Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; and he fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. Then said Jesus, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?”
Excerpt, Gospel Reading, Wednesday 13th Nov. 2024 – LUKE 17:11-19.
So, do we ever imagined that Christ was expecting those cleansed lepers to each come back bearing bulls and lambs in thanksgiving for their cleansing?
No, he wasn’t, however, a mere, “Thank you” would have suffice. This is however not saying taking gifts to Christ was out of place.
Possibly, the other nine, as Jews, they wanted to fulfil the injunction of the law that states that the Priest must confirm that one has been cleansed of leprosy before s/he would be considered truly cleansed.
Or, it could yet be possible that they were too happy and amazed to remember coming back to give gratitude.
Dear friend, e dey beta pass make we do am as e dey hot.
Now, whatever could be the reason why the other 9 cleansed lepers didn’t return to give thanks is unknown.
Therefore, as far as the world is concerned, their attitude has become perfect example for the show of ingratitude.
Dear friend, we mustn’t be like those nine. We mustn’t even give room for later claims that we were misunderstood.
My dear friend, we mustn’t wait for night to meet us without getting to give gratitude for any good done to us, no matter how small it may seem.
A simple “Thank you” would do. If we want, we can later return with the whole world to say another “Thank you.”
Now, we mustn’t get this wrong, too, as some of us would say that they have come back to say a proper “Thank you” when we return bearing gifts. It is just another “Thank you.”
We mustn’t wait until such a time when we can afford to buy gifts before returning to give thanks. If we can afford it, by all means, we should buy as much as appreciative as we are.
Nevertheless, just remember my dear friend, a simple “Thank you” would do.
May God grant us the grace to permit His will to be realised in our life.
Have a fantastic day folks.

“Does he thank the servant because he did what was commanded? So you also, when you have done all that is commanded you, say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.”
Excerpt, Gospel Reading, Tuesday 12th Nov. 2024 – LUKE 17:7-10.
So, it is really good to live right. We must endeavour to do the right at the right time always.
Ironically, in our world of today, doing the right thing has become so strange and very unlikely, so much so that when an everyday person does a random good act, it becomes news and folks would be calling for a national honour or award for the person who did just a usual routine act of goodness.
Some one returns money or other items forgotten in their vehicle and the world gets really astonished for the display of such honesty.
Truth is, true honesty is actually rare in our society of today. Therefore, some of us harping on that tend to seek validation for our self by pretentious acts of goodness.
And when we do not get any remark for such staged acts we really get troubled and miffed.
However, a simple thank you would do.
As a husband as well as a father, when we perform our duty and obligation to our family, we usually do not expect praises. Nevertheless, a simple thank makes a world of difference.
When we wait at the traffic light for it to turn green before proceeding, do we really expect anyone to come thank us for doing the right thing?
It is such random acts of purposeful goodness that is still keeping the world sane.
Dear friend do your bit and let me do mine and together, we will continue bringing sanity to our world.
May God grant us the grace to permit His will to be realised in our life.
Have a fantastic day folks.

“Temptations to sin are sure to come; but woe to him by whom they come! It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were cast into the sea, than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin.”
Excerpt, Gospel Reading, Monday 11th Nov. 2024 – LUKE 17:1-6.
So, recently, just about 4 months ago in Memphis, Tennessee, a 12-year-old girl in Humboldt, Tennessee was charged with first-degree murder after prosecutors say video shows her suffocating her 8-year-old cousin in a bunk bed they shared.
This incidence made news around the world. Some of us who heard it shuddered in bewilderment at how such a little child could have those kind of murderous tendencies.
This☝️is at the crux of the guilt enunciated by Christ in today’s teaching.
How did that little girl come up with such a terribly evil plan and still had the mind to execute it. Then, turn around to feign innocence.
It could be one of many reasons or even all. Yet all of them still come down to one and the same thing.
Could it be that she got exposed to such wild ideas from watching them in films. Of so, who made those films available to such a little child?
If the contents were in a film commensurate to her age, who could infuse such contents in a children video and who permitted and gave the approval for the children video with such contents to be circulated?
If she learnt such evil from her peers, how did those children also get exposed to such life enough to indoctrinate and radicalise another child’s innocence?
In today’ teaching, Christ says everyone caught in this chain of blame shares in the sin of that little girl.
It is just like the sin of abortion. The man who impregnated the woman and denied her, the parents who said no bustard child shall be raised in their house, the parents of the man who advised him to deny her, the friend who advised her to abort, the person who directed her to an abortion clinic, the medical personnel who performed the abortion, the friends and siblings who knew about the pregnancy and the plan to abort and didn’t advise against it. Every single one of them shares in the sin of that abortion.
Recently, with the monetization of contents on some social media platforms, some supposed influencers put up contents that mislead others to sin.
Only recently, one of such contents put out by a supposed influencer led to a young man ending it all.
Just like one of the contents put out by one who demonstrates on social media with empirical examples the knowledge of religion. He said our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is not God. And he gathered over 2 million reactions from that content.
Anyone who sees such contents, knowing what he has known about this person, if they hence begin to doubt their faith in Christ Jesus, such post would be responsible.
It is however, possible that after leading others to sin and successfully cashing out, he would retreat back to his closet and ask God for forgiveness.
Nevertheless, those of us so blinded by hero-worship who go about sharing and forwarding contents by such people are equally guilty of leading others to sin.
Nonetheless, the good thing is that, for those of us so complicit, the Church has 2 beautiful confessional prayers that when prayed conscientiously may absolve us from such sins.
The prayers are the “Act of Contrition” and “The Confiteor.”
Notwithstanding the prayers, their efficacy is not guaranty when we wilfully sin with the hope of getting absolved.
Although, God is very merciful, nevertheless, none of us know when the whistle will sound on us. We must then, be ready at all times.
However, as Christ said, if we have faith as little as a mustard seed, we will be easily fazed by any of such disillusionment.
May God grant us the grace to permit His will to be realised in our life.
Have a fantastic day and a fulfilled week folks.

“For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their ends is destruction, their god is the belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. But our commonwealth is in heaven, and from it we await a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will change our lowly body to be like his glorious body, . . . . . . . . . . . .”
Excerpt, First Reading, Friday 8th Nov. 2024 – PHILIPPIANS 3:17-4:1.
So, has anyone noticed that once we set our minds too much on making money rather than on bringing value, we never tend to get that much money. Moreover, even when we do get it very much, it always seems to us like we don’t ever get enough.
Take two different church leaders for example. The one whose mind is centred on vain and earthly possessions always want to go the full hub to achieve their intentions damning any consequences on their flock. And the more they get, the more they tend to want even more. So, also come several need to defend their actions.
On the other hand, the one who isn’t concerned about material possessions, rather, only focuses on leading their flock to heaven, they tend to get plenty offers of material things over and over again. Even when such generous givers are aware that such people may have little or no use for such generous gifts.
In 2017, Pope Francis was gifted a Special Edition Lamborghini Huracan. The market value of that car at that time was $200,000.
The Pope signed on the bonnet and asked that the car should be auctioned and the proceeds donated to charity.
By mere signing on the hood of the car automatically makes it a rare article and ramps up the price.
That, my dear friend is a perfect example of the type of leaders in the second example.
Such level of poverty to the world, signifies the Pope as a shepherd who is devoid of greed, intent on bringing value to humanity and leading his flock to heaven.
Lust for earthly things leads to avarice. Avarice blinds us from truthfulness and exposes us to bias judgements and eventually into sinning.
Today’s teaching says those of us so lustful, our god is our stomach (greed) and irrespective of our disguises, destruction awaits us.
May God give us the grace to permit His will to be realised in our life.
Folks, have a fantastic day and a pleasant weekend.

“‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost.’ Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.”
Excerpt, Gospel Reading, Thursday 7th Nov. 2024 – LUKE 15:1-10.
So, as a parent, would we really want to lost any of our children, even if they are wantonly obstinate?
Could it not be for the above☝️reason why parents, especially mothers tend to love and are more passionate about such children, especially the boy child?
Dear friend, that is how the Almighty God our heavenly Father and King is also very passionate about us.
We must know that God doesn’t hate us. He only hates the sin that we commit. And He passionately desires that we detach ourselves from sinfulness.
We are God’s children and He do not want to lose even a single one of us.
So, my dear friend, whenever we want to do bad, that silent, almost unheard voice at the back of our mind prompting us to desist, is our guardian angel.
And whenever we resist the urge of doing something wrong and we do not do it, there is usually great rejoicing by the host of angels.
Therefore, when we eventually make the decision that we are no longer going to be subjected by sin again, that we are going to make conscious efforts to live over and above it, our action prompted by that decision throws the hosts of heaven into a frenzy of joyous jubilation.
My dear friend, one must be psychotic and requiring of psychological evaluation if they, too, aren’t happy that their positive move has brought happiness to their parents and not the less, the hosts of heaven.
May God give us the grace to permit His will to be realised in our life.
Have a fantastic day folks.

“If any one comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me, cannot be my disciple.”
Excerpt, Gospel Reading, Wednesday 6th Nov. 2024 – LUKE 14:25-33.
So, does it really mean that Christ is asking us to hate wife, children and parents, even ourselves if we must be his disciples?
Well, so, it does seems. But far be it from that. Jesus Christ is not asking us to hate any of these people.
Do we remember what St Paul says in today’s first reading- “Work out your salvation with fear and trembling. . . . . . .” – PHILIPPIANS 2:12-18.
Salvation is an individual race. Therefore, no matter how much we love our family, we yet must run that race as individuals.
Since it is very important that we must travel light, Christ enjoins us to cast away other people’s burden (irrespective of family affiliation), carry our individual cross and follow him.
Dear friend, wife, husband, child / children, parents, siblings or excessive love for one’s self mustn’t stand in our way of making heaven.
May God avail us the grace to allow His will to be realised in our life.

“And the master said to the servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedges, and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled. For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste my banquet. ”’
Excerpt, Gospel Reading, Tuesday 5th Nov. 2024 – LUKE 14:15-24.
So, how will it seem to one, if the children of the house watch helplessly from afar, while former servants and known wanderers take possession of and enjoy their supposed inheritance?
Simply put in another way, Emeka and his siblings who grew up as privileged children would now be cast away from their father’s property. The people who formerly served them and some village loafers would now have privileged places in their supposed house. Whereas, he as well as his siblings will have to make do taking their bath at the village stream.
Tufiakwa! Olorun maje! Allah ya sauke! That is never gonna happen. Not in this life time.
Well, we can swear and reject it all we can. But such, my dear friend, is going to very likely be our lot at the gate heaven. Any which way depends on us.
See, there is a very distinct example in what played out with the two thieves crucified along side with Christ Jesus.
By the utterances of the thieves hanging crucified at the left and right sides of Christ Jesus one could risk to deduce their positions.
One of them possibly had heard about Christ before and knows something about him, his ways and teachings. So he mocked him.
The other, possibly just perceived that Christ was a good man. This thief whom we will later come to know Him as St Dismas – the Patron Saint of repented thieves, that very day made heaven, by virtue of what he made with the little he knew or just perceived about Christ Jesus.
My dear friend, whatever we make of what is constantly put before us daily in trying to shape our ways and our life will determine whether the lot of Emeka and his siblings awaits us, or the type of glory freely bestowed on St Dismas.
May God avail us the grace to permit His will to be realised in our life.

“When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your kinsmen or rich neighbours, lest they also invite you in return, and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”
Excerpt, Gospel Reading, Monday 4th Nov. 2024 – LUKE 14:12-14.
So, the message from today’s teaching excerpted above is simple and clear, but replete with meanings.
As it has become our culture to veil our conceit behind this severally abused statement, “Accept my widow’s might.”
Therefore, when we host our contemporaries as well those ahead of us. We may have possibly broken the bank to create an impression, or just fetched from our ‘bottomless till’.
We lavish the table with sumptuous cuisines and parade the most expensive wines and spirits.
Then, we stand before our invitees as their host and lying to our guests as well as to ourselves, we once again implore that highly abused assertion – “Please manage my widow’s might.”
In today’s first reading, the Apostle Paul says, “Do nothing from selfishness or conceit, but in humility count others better than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” – PHILIPPIANS 2:1-4.
Well, Christ isn’t saying when we throw a party, we shouldn’t invite our contemporaries. Far be it from that. We must, by all means, invite all of them, or as much as we can.
Nevertheless, Christ says, we must also give special invitations as well to those whom we know cannot pay us back.
Likewise, while it is good to give gifts and be generous to our contemporaries as well as those above us, we must also give gifts as well as be generous to those whom we are aware that they can’t return such favours.
And while at it, we must be weary of St Paul’s counsel☝️above. Therefore, we must implore the same humility and disposition we assumed while giving to those at the top when we give also to the poor.
Dear friend, there ate some generosity that we do that we immediately get our reward there and then. Then, we go beaming a wide smile from ear to ear.
Nevertheless, true generosity is quite different from philanthropy. Christ says of it, in today’s teaching that, we will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.
May God avail us the grace to permit His will to be realised in our life.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. . . . . . . . . . . . Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. . . . . . . . . . . . Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven.
Excerpts, Gospel Reading, Friday 1st November 2024 – MATTHEW 5:1-12.
So, today, the Church has set aside as a solemnity to commemorate the ‘Church Triumphant’. These are people who were once like us. However, after they transitioned from to the hereafter, they made it to heaven. These are the saints.
From today’s teaching, we must take away these three things – the poor in spirit, the pure of heart and those reviled and persecuted for righteousness sake.
To be poor in spirit means to acknowledge our deepest human need for God and to grow in that longing and that dependence on a daily basis.
A certain ‘keke’ operator in Kano who returned $10,000 someone mistakenly left inside his vehicle (and many more involved in similar incidence) is a shinning example of one who is pure in spirit.
Another perfect example of one with a pure spirit can be observed in children. Children, until adulthood comes to corrupt their innocence, have the purest of spirit. – And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, ‘Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. – MATTHEW 18:1-3.
It is the pure in heart that would be poor in spirit. Unfortunately, such a one would be reviled and persecuted by the world for the sake of their righteousness.
Nevertheless, my counsel to you this day my dear friend, is, despite the wrath of the world, we must hold on tightly to our faith and righteousness. That, it will be that shall decide our fate and destination when we too transition from this life.
May God avail us His grace to permit His will to be realised in our life.
Folks, have a fantastic day and a pleasant weekend.
