“The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed; nor will they say, ‘Behold, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst.”
Excerpt, Gospel Reading, Thursday 14th Nov. 2024 – LUKE 17:20-25.
So, in another part of the Holy Bible, Christ says, “The day of the Lord will come like a thief at night” – MATTHEW 16:15
In another place, the Holy Bible again says much the same thing, “For you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night” – 1 THESSALONIANS 5:2.
Then, yet again, in today’s teaching, Christ still emphasises that there will be no particular signs to show or indicate that the kingdom of God is coming. It will suddenly just come.
Once an issue is said repeatedly, it is just to emphasise the urgent importance.
However, just so as not to put us at our frightful edge, the statement, “Do not be afraid” is also emphasised in the Holy Bible.
Only, this time, the statement is repeated 365 times. Symbolically, it could be signifying one reassurance daily for the whole year.
Nevertheless, irrespective of the reassurance from God that we should fear not, we, too, must live in such a way that no sudden occurrence would scare, scuttle, or even just put us on the edge.
Today’s counsel is simple, like the motto of Boys’ Scout says, “Always be prepared,” so, we must be.
May God avail us the grace to permit His will to be realised in our life.
Have a fantastic day folks.
