Keeping it Holy

“Jesus entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold, saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be a house of prayer’; but you have made it a den of robbers.” And he was teaching daily in the temple. The chief priests and the scribes and the principal men of the people sought to destroy him; . . . . . . . . . .”

Excerpt, Gospel Reading, Friday 22nd Nov. 2024 – LUKE 13:45-48.

So, the folks that said Christ was high-handed and over-zealous for treating the people in today’s teaching the way he did, what would they have to say about what goes on in our places of worship today, even at the pulpit?

This is not excluding any denomination. All of them are culpable. The Pentecostal, Protestants and even the Catholics, some or most of the players in the Churches of today’s Christendom have outdone the things that got those traders of Jesus’ time to get flogged.

Possibly, if Christ were to come for some of those church leaders today, he would make his whips out of iron and steel.

So, my dear friend, would one say that because of the seemingly flawed practices in our churches one would no longer go to church?

Far be that from us. We must recall what Jesus Christ says of us, “We are in this world, but we are not of this world.” – JOHN 16:17.

It mustn’t be lost on us that we are first the temple of the Holy Spirit. Then, we, together with our household are the first church.

Therefore, we may be caught in the midst of such anomaly in our various local churches, however, we are not part of it and we honestly ensure never to be a part of it.

We have a shinning example in Saint Cecilia. Though, she was in the midst of a corrupt world where the sin of fornication was regarded as social convention in the society, yet she chose to exempt herself from such sinfulness and keep her virginity even if it would cost her life.

Kudos to those who are still virgins in Secondary School, those that have finished secondary school, those in the university as well the ones that have graduated from the university and are still virgins. Indeed, God is proud of you.

Folks, have a fantastic day and a pleasant weekend.
