“Jesus looked up and saw . . . . . . . . . . . . a poor widow put in two copper coins. And he said, ‘Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them; for they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all the living that she had.”

So, it is from this part of the Holy Bible that the cliché ‘widow’s might’ is derived from.
Now, it must be clear that Christ is not condemning any rich person for the wad of money they drop in the offertory basket.
If for anything, the Church actually needs such generosity of its members to actively and effectively perform its task of proper evangelization.
The intention of Christ’s remarks in today’s teaching is about trust.
That old lady trusting in God that He shall provide for her, didn’t give a second thought before emptying her purse into the collection basket.
Mother Theresa of blessed memory says, “Love is not love until it hurts.”
Dear friend, it is such radical trust that quickly attracts the attention of our Heavenly Father.
Like a fisherman who did not put any fishes in the river, however, he takes his nets everyday and casts them in the water with the hope of gathering in fishes.
Any day that he doesn’t catch a single fish, while still trusting in God, He will return again the next day and hurl his nets in the water.
The guys we call ‘man waka’, they depart from their various houses daily with the hope that someone will hire them just so that they can earn a living to feed their family for that day.
For the mere fact that none hires them on Monday is not enough reason for them not to return to the same place on Tuesday.
These are examples of blind trust in God that challenges Him to be favourably disposed towards us.
Remember, in giving, “Love is not love until it hurts.”
Have a fantastic day and a fulfilled week folks.
